3. South East Arts uses the Creative Directory to showcase the rich cultural fabric of our region. We will feature artists listed in the Creative Directory on our digital channels and our curated spaces.

Local Mogo artist Sherrie Nye has been selected to create an artwork which will feature on the façade of the new $20 million Batemans Bay Community Health facility.

Sherrie Nye is a contemporary Indigenous artist with a lifelong connection to the Eurobodalla region. The art commission aims to create a culturally safe environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients, staff and families visiting the new facility.

The original artwork, created by Sherrie, will be digitised and transformed into a largescale installation that will take pride of place on the front of the new facility.

A further 11 artworks created by artists with a connection to the Eurobodalla region were selected to feature in spaces throughout the new building to create a welcoming, healing and supportive environment for patients, visitors and staff.

The artists are Dean Dampney (Pambula), Maree Jackson (Tuross Head), Sharon Beder (Surf Beach), Stan Squire (Pambula), Ann Rayment (Dolphin Point), Gary Kemp (Lilli Pilli), Christine Dimmer (Braidwood), Belinda Rosenbaum (Merimbula) and Dirk Rampling (Pambula).

These works will be complemented by an artwork from the Mogo Wangganga (Women’s) Art Therapy Group.

Arts in health experiences are an integral part of all NSW Health Capital projects to reflect each region’s dynamic community and create a welcoming and supportive environment for patients, families and staff.

The commissioning of artworks for the new Batemans Community Health facility follows a thorough selection and evaluation process and is carried out in collaboration with NSW Health staff and the community.

Construction of the new Batemans Bay Community Health facility is moving ahead, with the roof installation complete, façade installation continuing and internal works progressing.

Located on the existing Batemans Bay Hospital site, the facility will deliver a range of community-based services in one location, improving access to healthcare for communities in Batemans Bay and surrounding areas.

Construction is expected to be completed in late 2026 and will be followed by a period of operational commissioning and staff training before the new facility opens to the public.

The facility is being delivered in partnership with Health Infrastructure and Southern NSW Local Health District and building contractor Monarch Building Solutions.
