South East Arts bi-monthly newsletter

Message from the Executive Director

It’s been a busy and rewarding couple of months at South East Arts, with projects coming to fruition across the region and plenty more still ahead.

In the Snowy Monaro, the Bundian Way Gallery continues to present its program of First Nations creativity in the region. Currently showing is 'Tides of Expression' - featuring the artworks of three southeast women: Sonya Naylor of Wallaga; Loanna Panton of Bermagui and Amanda Close of Narooma. If you are visiting the Snowy Monaro check out the Raglan Gallery's two new exhibitions: 'Artistry in Porcelain and Textile Art' and 'Chasing the Muse'.

We are proud of South East Arts’ continued partnership with Bega Chamber of Commerce and Bega Valley Shire in creating the 2026 Bega Streetlight Festival. We loved putting together another successful a poetry event, photography exhibition and People’s Choice Award.

Another significant project reaching completion has been our work to deliver a local art collection for the recently completed Batemans Bay Community Health Centre facility in Eurobodalla. This has been a valuable opportunity to bring the work of local artists into an important community setting, extending the presence of regional art beyond traditional galleries and arts venues.

Across all of this work, we continue to support artists and arts organisations, build partnerships, share funding and professional development opportunities, and advocate for creative communities across the Bega Valley, Eurobodalla and Snowy Monaro. Together, these activities created opportunities for local creative work to be seen, heard and celebrated as part of the cultural ecosystem.

Looking ahead, there is plenty taking shape across the region. This weekend our attention turns to the Headland Writers Festival in Tathra, bringing writers, readers and storytellers together for a celebration of literature and ideas. A highlight will be the announcement of the Olga Masters Short Story Award winner on Friday night, continuing an important opportunity for writers and celebrating Olga Masters’ literary legacy.

We hope to see you there!
