Craig Garrett

Board Member

Craig Garrett is a writer, community radio journalist and an international audio producer, born on Ngunnawal Country (Canberra), and he has lived in Naarm, Meanjin, Dili (Timor-Leste) and London. Since 2022 he has lived on Yuin Country in the Bega Valley. He has 30 years’ experience in the arts, publishing, community broadcasting, podcasting and not-for-profit sectors.

He is a passionate multidisciplinary storyteller who provides independent spaces where people and communities tell their own stories in their own voices, and he has collaborated with Speaking Volumes (UK), the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA), the Digital Writers’ Festival, the QLD Poetry Festival, Ranu Welum (Indonesia) and Vulcana Women’s Circus. His fiction and nonfiction has appeared in both print and digital anthologies, journals and magazines; his short stories ‘Rat-boys’ and ‘Magpie’ were shortlisted for the Josephine Ulrick Literary Awards and Wet Ink prize (respectively); in 2020 his podcast London by Lockdown was a finalist in the ‘People’s Choice Podcast Awards’ (US); and in 2017 he won the CBAA ‘Excellence in News & Current Affairs’ Award.
