DJAMAGA MUSIC - Songs from the South Coast (MP3 DIGITAL DOWNLOAD)

A$15.00

In late 2020, First Nations songwriters were invited by South East Arts to record an original song for a unique compilation album. The songs were recorded at Umbarra Cultural Centre near Wallaga Lake and the result is DJAMAGA MUSIC - eight tracks ranging from rock and country, to hip hop and folk/pop. DJAMAGA means 'good' in the South Coast Language as spoken by Elders.

The songwriters featured on the album live across the Yuin Nation on the south east coast of Australia, from Dharawal country on the northern border, to Thaua country in the south.

Featuring original music from First Nations singer/songwriters Ron “Callo” Callaghan, Matty Walker & Kyarna Rose, Gabadu, Richard Luland, Gadhu Dreaming Band, Nikea Brooks-Hayes & Dre Wicks, Buddy Walker feat. CJ Leon and Chelsy Atkins.

_____________________________________________
South East Arts initiated the project and will continue supporting, promoting and building the capacity of First Nations creative artists across the south east NSW region.

Big thanks to recording/mixing engineer Ricky Bloomfield from Bear Mountain Productions, mastering engineer Nick Franklin, Yuin artist Natalie Bateman, Merrimans LALC, Eden Aboriginal Language Group and all the songwriters and musicians who contributed to this album.

All proceeds of the album sales will support Giiyong Festival and associated First Nations projects.

South East Arts acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the communities of the Yuin and Monaro Nations, upon whose lands we live and work, and who continue to teach and guide us in our work supporting artists.
