South East Arts (SEA) is seeking a new skills-based board member to join our Voluntary Board of Directors.
We are looking for an individual with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
Legal / Risk Management
Arts Business Development / Cultural Enterprise
Fundraising, Philanthropy, or Sponsorship
This appointment is aimed at equipping the SEA Board with the necessary expertise to ensure it meets the challenges of a robust cultural environment. The successful candidate will help guide the Board’s governance, strategic alignment, and sector leadership. SEA’s commitment across the Bega Valley, Eurobodalla, and Snowy Monaro regions is to foster a vibrant, inclusive and sustainable arts ecosystem, supporting local identity.
Key Details
Role: Board Director (Skills-Based Appointment)
Vacancy: 1
Term: Board members are appointed for two-year terms and are eligible for reappointment for two further terms of two years each. Committee Members can serve on the Committee for a maximum of six years in total. Executive position appointments are for 1 year.
Time Commitment: Approx. 2-6 hours/month (including board meetings, preparation, and event attendance)
Location: Remote and in-region (meetings are hybrid)

Selection Priorities
We are especially interested in candidates who bring experience in:
Legal compliance, contracts, or risk management in a not-for-profit or arts context
Business and enterprise development within the arts, creative industries, or social impact space
Fundraising strategy, philanthropic engagement, or sponsorship acquisition
Board Member Responsibilities
Participate in strategic planning and organisational oversight
Uphold SEA’s governance, compliance, and risk responsibilities
Promote SEA’s mission and represent the organisation within your networks
Engage with SEA’s work including events, partnerships, and community initiatives
